St. Matthew Tenth Annual Women’s Retreat

michael-long“Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” is the theme for the Tenth Annual Women’s Retreat at St. Matthew Lutheran Church. The retreat will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Our speaker will be Dr. Michael Long, associate professor of religious studies and peace and conflict studies at Elizabethtown College. Using extensive research for his book “Peaceable Neighbor” about Mr. Rogers, Dr. Long will discuss how “Mr. Rogers used his children’s program as a platform for sharing his values of radical nonviolence and unconditional care for one another, animals and the earth.” (from the book cover)

Our day will also include Bible studies, worship with Holy Communion, a craft and a lasagna and salad lunch. Our dessert table will consist of desserts you bring to share, chocolate or otherwise. The cost is $15. Please send your check, along with your registration form, to Jan Davis, St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St., Hanover, PA, 17331, by January 9, 2017.
