PARISH PROJECT TO BENEFIT LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF

St. Matthew has provided Lutheran World Relief funds for “Blanket Sunday” for many years.  Now “Blanket Sunday” has changed to “PARISH PROJECT MONTH!”  Instead of using funds for blankets, Lutheran World Relief now uses our offerings to help with the shipping costs of quilts, personal care kits, cleanings kits and other items around the world.  You may donate anytime, but we will have special envelopes in our bulletins Saturday, October 21 and Sunday, October 22 for your contributions.  Checks should be written to “St. Matthew Lutheran Church” with “LWR” on the memo line.

Our Women of the ELCA continues their personal care kit project throughout the entire year and has sent hundreds of kits to LWR so far.  Items for kits may be placed in the box in the elevator lobby or the church office any time, but we hope for lots of things this month.  Items for the kits are:  bath-sized towel (dark color, please), toothbrushes and 4-5 ounce soaps in original wrapping and sturdy combs and nail clippers.

We are also highlighting our Quilters and Prayers Shawl creators this month.  There will be a blessing of quilts and shawls over the Parish Project weekend.  Thank you to all who support LWR and our prayer shawl ministries!
