The Nativity

Nativity Window

Back to Main Windows Page

The Nativity window is almost as beautiful as the story it depicts. It takes its inspiration from the accounts of Jesus’ birth in the Gospels of both Matthew and Luke. From Luke’s narrative, the window shows angels at the lower corners announcing and undergirding Christ’s birth, and the shepherds who then visit the humble site where he is found lying in a manger, a trough for cattle feed. From Matthew’s narrative, a star featured above the stable will lead the Magi to the place where Jesus lay. Also depicted in this scene are the stable animals, but central of course are Mary, Joseph, and the blessed Christ child.
